Any new building at Agapé requires septic treatment.  Therefore, the first project at Agapé will be to build a Septic Treatment unit at a cost of $344,000.

Once the septic needs at Agapé have been met, we will begin construction on a new
Dining Facility with an Environmental Education learning area.
This facility has proposed seating for 140 upstairs, and open-air gathering space for 120 below.  Also underneath will be the bathrooms needed to accommodate large ACE Education school groups.  This project will cost $1,248,000.

Once the Dining Facility is built, we will Renovate the Lutheran Men's Lodge, removing the commercial kitchen to expand the current dining room for meeting space.  This will cost $75,000.

KURE BEACH PLANS...
As we look at the plans in store for Kure Beach and Camp Agapé, it is very important to know that other things are happening outside, but along with, the campaign.
A STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITY AT KURE BEACH
is the most prominent outside project.
We are blessed to own a vacant lot next to the Center (known to many as the volleyball court).  This lot has appreciated greatly since its purchase, and it is much more valuable than the building originally intended to be built on it.  Considering this, and the aged state of East and West across the street, the Board of Directors has decided to sell the vacant lot and use the proceeds toward replacing East and West. Due to rising construction costs and an improved outlook on property values at the beach, the board has decided to go ahead with the Kure Beach House project. Demolition of East and West is slated to begin late in the fall of 2007, allowing the new building to be completed by the summer of 2008. We continue to pray for the sale of the empty lot to help fulfill the financial needs of this undertaking.

Again, the "Kure Beach House" project exists outside of the campaign, so dollar amounts from the property sale will not take the place of campaign pledges.  However, the Kure Beach Chapel/Recreation building outlined in the capital campaign will be worked into this project, so the $315,000 identified in the prospectus combines with the land sale proceeds to fund the complete building.

We pray that we will find that the NC Synod congregations and individuals share all the excitement and commitment we have for this ministry, and pledges exceed our main goal. If this happens, the following projects are planned in our CHALLENGE GOAL:

Agapé Cabin Village (3 or 4 cabins, making up 7 cabin-group units)

$325,000

Kure Beach Lutheran Center Exterior Refurbishing

$110,000

Agapé staff housing

$135,000

Total Costs with Challenge Goal

$2,570,000
