Gerhard Cabin
The Gerhard Cabin is the first of four units planned for Agapé's Cabin Village. Constructed using cutting-edge building techniques, it is an energy efficient, "Green" facility that will comfortably house 17 people. Nestled in Skyview Meadow, the Gerhard Cabin offers our guests a comfortable lounge area, two bunk rooms, four full bathrooms, and a snack prep area.  Each sleeping room features four bunks, two sinks, and 2 private bathrooms & showers (one sleeping room includes an additional single bed).

include a spacious deck for devotional or conversation space, a nearby campfire circle, two outdoor chapels, volleyball and basketball courts, and nearby access to the pond and Meditation Rock.

Meals
: are provided by our food service for an additional fee. All meals are served in the Johnson Dining Room.

Snack prep area:
Please bring your own kitchen towels, 13-gallon trash bags, dishwasher detergent, and dish soap. Thank you. Recycling bins are provided.

Note:

Rooms are equipped with a pillow and blanket for each bed. You must bring your own linens,* pillow cases, towels, soaps, and personal effects.

*You may also purchase our linen service for an additional fee. Linen service provides you, upon arrival, with one set of sheets, pillow case, bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth for your stay.

The "Gerhard Cabin" features a "Green Construction" design that includes:

Sealed envelope construction using spray-on organic based insulation
Solar tubes for passive lighting
Carpeting made from recycled plastic bottles
Marmoleum for bathroom floors made from organic products
Low-flow water fixtures including toilets with adjustable flush levels
Use of OVC free paints and glues
Low energy fluorescent, compact fluorescent or LED interior lights
Rain barrels to provide water for landscaping
A deck made of TREX board, a post-consumer plastic product
HardiPlank exterior siding, low maintenance.
Locally grown wainscoating materials (didn’t travel over 35 miles start to finish)
Energy Star appliances.
Highest SEER rated heat pump.

A special dedication service for the Gerhard Cabin was held on May 5, 2008. The cabin was put to use a month later on June 5, the first week of summer camp. For ten days in August, the ELCA website featured the Gerhard Cabin on its front page. We are walking the talk as we model new construction technology and minimize our impact on God's creation.
