Summer Camps

A Christ centered experience in a fun and safe environment!

Agapé or Kure Beach summer camp has been, and will always be, a FUN and unique way to meet new friends and build on old relationships. Come out to camp for the very first time, or the 100th time. You won't be disappointed!

What is a typical day at camp like?

Each day at camp is packed with age appropriate activities which may include: swimming, hiking, nature time with Mir (our onsite naturalist and silly hat specialist), songs, stories, skits, campfires, worships, discovery times (Bible study), crafts, archery, canoeing, GaGa Ball, Fun Bugs, sleep-outs, and more. Of course the best part of camp is spending time with a cool counselor and being surrounded by the love of God in a unique place apart.

Camp Week: Most weeks begin Sunday with check in (3:30 - 4:30 pm) and close Friday (1:30 - 2:30 pm). Camp Agapé resident campers check in at the Woodlands Center. Surf campers check in at the Kure Beach Faith Center (Surf Camp closes on Thursday).

Our Summer Staff

Agapé † Kure Beach staff is a small group of dedicated, well-trained, Christian young adults. Your staff is prepared to ensure a safe, fun, quality experience of living your faith in an intentional Christian community. All staff are Red Cross First Aid & CPR certified, certified lifeguards and challenge course staff will be on duty at all waterfront, group building, and adventure activities (zip-line). Most importantly, our staff lives their faith in daily life and practices the love of God with all campers.

Your summer staff is trained and led by our Program Director, Ava Whitehead; our onsite Naturalist, Mir Youngquist-Thurow; and by Randy Youngquist-Thurow, our Executive Director, AIM & CCD. Combined they share over 65 years of camp staff leadership.

Campership Assistance Is Available To Anyone In Need

The David L. Castor Campership Fund exists to help make camp affordable. Simply request campership assistance and we will do what we can to make sure everyone can attend a week of camp. Financial concerns are never a good reason for denying a child the opportunity to experience the Spirit of God in a unique place apart under the careful supervision of a committed Christian young adult (counselor).

More Camp FunThis all means you have three options when paying for your week of camp:

  1. Pay the full cost of a week at camp.

  2. Pay the set fee (subsidized)

  3. Pay what you can and ask for Campership assistance. Contact Melissa at 919.552.9421 for the Campership form.

It is our policy that no camper be turned away from a camp experience due to the lack of financial means.

Agapé † Kure Beach Ministries provides a Christ-centered residential summer camp experience. We focus on building relationships with campers in a small-group setting where highly trained young adult role-models share positive values while making new friends and developing life skills to be used for years to come. Agapé † Kure Beach ministries welcomes guests regardless of race, national origin, handicap, creed, sex, age or income level.
